The Largest Adult Soccer Tournament in the State of New Jersey

In 1996 Gio Simões went to the city with a plan for the soccer festival to get members of the Brazilian community together. He timed it to coincide with his native country’s independence day (September 7,1822).

The Copa Latino USA started with 8 Brazilian teams competing to celebrating the anniversary of the Brazilian Independence Day (September 7th).

The Copa Latino USA began as a way to bring the Brazilian community in the city together, and after 11 years has become an event for the entire community.

The Copa Latino USA, a 28-team adult soccer tournament,  brings more than 10,000 people together on every Labor Day weekend. It now stretches well beyond the bounds of the city and the Brazilian community it was first planned to serve with participation of teams from New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina.

"We Brazilians don’t need too many reasons for a party," Simões said, noting that the Labor Day weekend is close enough.

Now, in it's 15th edition, the Copa Latino USA has become the largest Adult Soccer Tournament in the State of New Jersey attracting thousands of soccer fans during the two days of festivities.

THE LARGEST AND MOST WELL ORGANIZED ADULT SOCCER TOURNAMENT IN THE TRI-STATE AREA.
